Oprah Winfrey was born in 1954 in Mississippi, USA. She grew up in an impoverished (poor) family. Despite this, she dreamed big.  Her father was in army. Her mother moved to Milwaukee to work as a maid, leaving little Oprah on a farm with her grandmother. They were very poor and often wore dresses made from potato sacks. She didn’t had the luxury of shoes until schooling begins. Her grandmother taught her the most precious gift on how to read and write. This turnd Opera into an avid reader and a good scholar.

When she was six, Oprah moved to Milwaukee to live with her mother. This transition (change) was difficult. Her neighborhood was dangerous. Oprah faced many challenges. She was a bright student, but her peers often teased her. They made fun of her clothes and her poor background.

At age nine, Oprah faced severe hardships. She suffered abuse (harmful treatment) and felt very alone. Despite this, she found comfort in reading. Books became her escape from the harsh realities. This tumult (uproar; noise) in her life was hard to bear.

Oprah excelled (did very well) in school despite the turmoil (great disturbance) at home. She loved speaking in public and joined the debate team. Her teachers saw her talent and encouraged her. They helped ameliorate (make better) her situation.

At 14, Oprah ran away to Nashville to live with her father. This change marked a new beginning. Her father was strict but supportive. He emphasized (placed importance on) education. Under his guidance, Oprah’s grades improved, and she became more confident.

Oprah joined the school speech team and won many awards. She also got a part-time job reading the news on a local radio station. This experience sparked her interest in media. However, she faced discrimination (unfair treatment) because of her race and gender.

Despite these obstacles, Oprah persevered (kept going). She worked hard and never gave up. Her determination (strong will) paid off when she received a full scholarship to Tennessee State University. There, she studied communication.

Oprah’s career began to take off. She became the first African American news anchor (news presenter) at Nashville’s WLAC-TV. This was a significant achievement (accomplishment) for her. However, she continued to face discrimination in the industry.

Oprah’s big break came in 1984 when she moved to Chicago. She hosted a morning talk show called “AM Chicago.” Her warm, candid (honest) style won over viewers. The show became very popular.

In 1986, the show was renamed “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” It became a huge success. Oprah’s early struggles and hard work had paid off. She used her platform to inspire and help others.

Today, Oprah Winfrey is one of the most influential (having great power) women in the world. Her story shows that with perseverance, hard work, and determination, you can overcome any obstacle. She remains a symbol of hope and inspiration for many.
