Oprah Winfrey was born in 1954 in Mississippi, USA. She grew up in an impoverished (poor) family. Despite this, she dreamed big. Her father was in army. Her mother moved to Milwaukee to work as a maid, leaving little Oprah on a farm with her grandmother. They were very poor and often wore dresses made from potato sacks.
